Arapçada Med harflerinin ardından Elif harfleri gelir. Böylece bu harfler ayrı kelimelerde bulunur ise o vakit meddi munfasıl olur. Yani ayrı med anlamı olarak ifade edildiğini söylemek mümkün. Bu bağlamda Harfi med ile birlikte sebeb-i Med şeklinde bilinen hamze, ayrı olarak yazılması anlamı taşımaktadır.
